The Stolen Generations | Australians Together

Between 1910-1970, many Indigenous Australian children, particularly “half-castes”, were forcibly removed from their families as a result of assimilation policies that left a legacy of trauma that continues to affect Indigenous Australians. These Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children became known as the Stolen Generations, and often suffered abuse and neglect on the government reserves and missions where they were raised.
